Critically acclaimed and with Mick Fleetwood’s golden seal of approval –
Rumours of Fleetwood Mac are back!
Back by popular demand and touring across April and May 2009 Flying Music proudly present Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac! A stunning live stage celebration concert performing the music of one of the world’s first super-groups Fleetwood Mac!
With their meticulously crafted instrumentals and tight harmonies, this year’s tour once again brings the classic hits of the legendary Fleetwood Mac back to the masses. Rumours of Fleetwood Mac has perfected the legacy of blues, rock and pop classics that made the band the icons of the music industry that they are today.
Forming in New York in 1997, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac played their first gig for personal friend and record producer Brian Rawling, the master player behind great chart hits Cher’s “Do You Believe” and Ricky Martin’s “Private Emotion”. The vocal harmonies and musical arrangements of Mike Lennon(Keyboards & Vocals), Louise Rogan (Lead Vocals), Amanda Kostadinov (Lead Vocals & Keyboards), Ian Robinson (Bass), Alan Hughes (Guitars & Vocals) and Allan Cosgrove (Drums & Vocals) blend to create an evening of the finest musical entertainment.
With over 300 major theatre concerts behind them, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac have now performed to over 250,000 Mac fans worldwide and are recognised as the most authentic snapshot of rock super-group Fleetwood Mac! Once again, they are ready to wow audiences in cities across the UK, starting April 4th in Southport.
In an immaculate trip through outstanding musicianship, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac performs the classic hits from the legendary band. From their inception in 1967 with Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood through to the critically acclaimed ‘Rumours’ era in the seventies with Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and their continuing success in the eighties and nineties.
Rumours has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and is listed as one of the best-selling albums of all time. Released in 1977, the album reached number one in February of the same year and charted for 477 weeks in the UK. It marked the band’s 13th album and followed the release of the self-titled Fleetwood Mac in 1975.
The inspiration for Rumours was said to have been the changes that the band were facing, in particularly the break ups between John and Chrissie McVie, and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. ‘Go Your Own Way’ was the first single release from the album and was written by Buckingham. It reached the top 50 in the UK and remains as one of the bands biggest this to this day. Other huge hits from the album include ‘Dreams’, which was more recently covered by The Corrs, ‘You Make Loving Fun’, ‘Gold Dust Woman’ and ‘Don’t Stop’ to name a few.
So watch as this amazingly authentic group pay tribute to the breathtaking blues of Peter Green, the thunderous Mick Fleetwood grooves, the monster bass rifts of John McVie and the brilliant guitar work of Lindsey Buckingham – it’s going to be a tour to remember!

Rick Wakeman To Perform The Six Wives Of Henry VIII Live
The Six Wives of Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace - May 1st & 2nd 2009
In 1972, Rick released one of the most iconic albums of all time, The Six Wives of Henry VIII. The album was a massive success all over the world and to date has sold more than 15,000,000 copies on both vinyl and CD.
Amazingly, the music has never been performed in its entirety but all that is about to change. On 1st and 2nd May, The Six Wives of Henry VIII will be performed in spectacular style on Hampton Court Palace's West Front, to a limited audience of 5000 for each performance.
On stage, performing with Rick, will be an expanded band, The English Chamber Choir, an orchestra and a guest narrator. There will also be dancers and side film screens.
In addition to The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Rick has also composed three additional pieces to perform that evening; Tudor Overture, Defender of the Faith and Tudor Rock.
The whole event will be a 'mock rock Tudor experience' from the outset with a variation of tickets available, such as Platinum tickets which give access to Hampton Court Palace itself from 3.30pm and includes meet and greet and other special opportunities throughout the day.
These will be the only performances of The Six Wives of Henry VIII anywhere in their entirety. |

Deep Purple vocalist returns with the most spectacular solo album of his career
edel entertainment's international label earMUSIC is pleased to announce the March 23rd release of Ian Gillan's exciting new solo album "One Eye To Morocco". Gillan's first collection of original new recordings since 1997, the album will be released across four editions including CD, Ltd Edition CD, Vinyl Gatefold, 7" vinyl and CD.
Ian Gillan, one of the greatest rock singers of all times renowned as a member of Deep Purple, though he also led bands named after himself.
Gillan was the driving force of classic Deep Purple MkII that in the 70s changed rock fashions through a series of successful records - "Concerto for Group and Orchestra" (1970), "Deep Purple in Rock" (1970), "Fireball" (1971; number one U.K.), "Machine Head" (1972; number one UK; Top Ten, multi-platinum USA), "Made in Japan" (1973; Top Ten, platinum U.S.), and "Who Do We Think We Are" (1973; Top Five U.K.; Top 20, gold U.S.).
He was also featured on Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's concept album Jesus Christ Superstar singing the title role; the gold-selling double LP topped the U.S. charts in 1971.
As a solo artist, Ian Gillan enjoyed a lot of success too, in 1980, seven years after leaving Deep Purple (the band split in 1975, two years after Gillan's departure), Gillan signed to Virgin Records and scored a British singles chart entry with "Sleeping on the Job" in June 1980, followed by "Glory Road", which peaked in the Top Five and charted briefly in America.
Thus established, Gillan scored a series of Top 40 singles and Top 20 albums in the U.K. over the next two years: "Trouble" (1980); "Mutually Assured Destruction" (1981); "New Orleans" (1981); "Future Shock" (1981), "No Laughing in Heaven" (1981); "Nightmare" (1981); "Double Trouble" (1981) and "Magic" (1982).
In May 1983, he surprised fans by joining Black Sabbath with the recording of their album "Born Again" and subsequently toured with the band from August to March 1984.
In March 1984, the 1969-1973 line-up of Deep Purple, including Gillan reunited and soon after they cut the million-selling "Perfect Strangers" and "The House of Blue Light" (1987).
Since then, Ian Gillan divided his energy between Deep Purple (who have been signed to edel records since the release of their "Rapture of the Deep" album) and his solo production. His most recent official release was the critically acclaimed "Live in Anaheim", released on CD and DVD.

and selected U.K. cinemas nationwide
Lou Reed recorded the album Berlin in 1973.
It was a commercial failure.
Over the next 33 years, he never performed the album live.
For five nights in December 2006 at St. Ann's Warehouse Brooklyn, Lou Reed performed his masterwork about love's dark sisters: jealousy, rage and loss. - Julian Schnabel
Staging Berlin has been discussed for over 30 years and in December of 2006 it became a reality. Berlin was said to be one of the most depressing albums ever made and as it was brought to life it was far from dismal. Using the divided city of Berlin as its backdrop the story of Caroline and her lovers is told through the emotive and provocative words of Lou Reed.
With performers like Fernando Saunders, Antony, Steve Hunter, Rob Wassermann, Rupert Christie and Sharon Jones, a seven piece orchestra and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus all working to create a captivating and enveloping world, Lou Reed is able to take the audience with him as he bares witness to Caroline's self-destruction.
Julian's set design creates the backdrop of a hotel with greenish walls and Lola Schnabel's films display the beauty and tragedy of the narrator's leading lady (played by the French actress Emmanuelle Seigner), adding to the experience which is so devastating and beautiful at the same time.
Julian Schnabel was born in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated with a B.F.A. from the University of Houston and participated in the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. He had his first solo painting exhibition at the Mary Boone Gallery in New York in 1979. Since then, his paintings have been included in many important public and private collections around the world. His films include Basquiat, Before Night Falls, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival in 2000, THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY, and Lou Reed's BERLIN.

Following numerous critically acclaimed tours and due to public demand, Maximum Rhythm N’ Blues is back, once again boasting some of the finest rhythm & blues talent ever assembled on one stage before.
These artists learned their craft by playing the exciting 60s London club circuit in such famous clubs of the time as ‘The Flamingo’, ‘Klooks Kleeks’, ‘Ricky Ticks’, ‘The Scene’, ‘Eel Pie Island’, the ‘Crawdaddy’, ‘Ronnie Scotts’ and ‘The 101 Club’ creating the birth of British Rhythm N Blues. Alongside the Stones & the Yardbirds, the Manfreds were very much leaders of the pack, scoring a run of hit singles including If You Gotta Go, Go Now, Do Wah Diddy Diddy, 5-4-3-2-1 and Mighty Quinn.
The Maximum Rhythm N’ Blues tour reunites Manfred members Paul Jones, Mike D’Abo, Tom McGuinness, Simon Currie, Wayne Elliot, Rob Townsend and Mike Hugg. After the successful reunion of The Manfreds in 1991, these pioneers of the groundbreaking British Rhythm N’ Blues scene perform a show that features The Manfreds on stage throughout the night introducing all their classic hits and those of their special guests.
Joining the Manfreds are Alan Price and Maggie Bell. Price is one of the quintessential British singer/song writers of the 20th century and has enjoyed a successful career in music, film and theatre spanning over 40 years. Initially a founder member of The Animals, Price has gone on to enjoy a great solo career with I Put A Spell On You, Simon Smith And His Amazing Bear, The House That Jack Built and a memorable score for Lindsay Anderson’s O Lucky Man! among the highlights.
Returning for her second consecutive tour is former Stone The Crows vocalist and winner of the 1971 Melody Maker readers’ poll for Best Female Vocalist Maggie Bell. Maggie was hailed at the time as the British Janis Joplin and managed by the infamous Peter Grant. She cut her first solo album, Queen of the Night with Jerry Wexler and her unique soulful voice has seen Bell work with Jimmy Page, Denny Laine, The Who, Rod Stewart & B.A. Robertson amongst others.
An all star line up with the hits to match!

WALTER BECKER RELEASES LATEST SOLO ALBUM CIRCUS MONEY
Sonic360 is pleased to announce the UK release of Circus Money, Walter Becker’s first solo album in fourteen years. “It is,” the artist acknowledges, “a unique career strategy.”
Over the past 38 years, Becker and his long-time collaborator Donald Fagen have released 10 albums under the Steely Dan moniker. Circus Money is Becker’s second solo effort. To suggest that the new album, produced by Grammy® Award winning Larry Klein, has long been highly anticipated is something of an understatement among the Becker cognoscenti.
It was in 1994 that 11 Tracks of Whack, Becker’s debut solo outing arrived, with conclusive proof that the songwriter, multi-tasking musician and studio habitué had more to say – and more ways to say it – than could be contained in the epochal oeuvre of Steely Dan.
And that itself is saying something, considering the storied career of the estimable duo, with all the masses of platinum and multiples of Grammy amassed by Becker and Fagen over the years – some would say very odd -- years. Yet there was evidently a lot more where that came from, music so idiosyncratic, iconoclastic and ingenious only one artist could rightly be held accountable.
“When I write a song, it matters very much whether it’s intended for me,” Walter explains. “If it is, I can do what I want, within my own frame of reference. I take full responsibility.”
Yet, even allowing for such a forthright admission of liability, the dozen tracks that comprise Circus Money were very much a collaborative endeavor. Aiding and abetting the artist over the nearly three years of the album’s creation was producer Larry Klein, who both produced Circus Money and co-wrote all but one selection.
Klein, of course, brought a wealth of experience to the job, most recently helming Herbie Hancock’s 2007 Grammy® winning Album of the Year, River: The Joni Letters. But it was hardly his resume, however impressive, that drew Becker to Klein.
“We met originally in 1990,” Walter recounts, “and over the years became friends. These songs are very much an outgrowth of that friendship: the gags, the stories, the inside references. At the same time, we had to depend on each other to make sure things didn’t get completely obscure.”
“It was all very fluid,” Klein agrees. “We’d be having a conversation and it would just naturally drift into writing. But at the same time, we kept pushing for a higher level. Writing songs with Walter Becker is like playing tennis with John McEnroe. It keeps you on your game.”
Also at the top of their game was a heavy hitting roster of sidemen assembled for the Circus Money sessions. Among the names familiar to Steely Dan fans are drummer Keith Carlock and guitarist Jon Herington, both of whom have toured widely with the band, while keyboardists Ted Baker and Jim Beard were recruited especially for the occasion. “These are smart, diligent musicians,” Becker observes, “and, with Larry, we had the added benefit of a producer who actually waits to make a suggestion until one is needed. That’s a kind of genius all by itself.”
Walter himself handled all the lead vocals as well as playing bass, a decision that had direct bearing on the album’s point of origin. “The bass gave me a more powerful position to define the direction I wanted the music to take,” he explains.
“As much as anything, that direction had to do with the fact that, for years before I started this project, I was listening almost exclusively to Jamaican music. I even became something of an expert on various sub genres, such as songs about motorcycles and/or featuring motorcycle sound effects; songs about the barbers versus the dreads, and songs about various judicial procedures. I initially had the idea of writing lyrics directly to some of the dub instrumental tracks I was hearing, but, as I got further into the process with Larry we instead used reggae as a sort of stepping-off point. You can hear it, especially in the rhythm section, throughout the album, which is one of the reasons I wanted to be back there working with the drummers.”
It’s a good example of how, for all its talented complement, Circus Money remains a quintessentially Beckeresque enterprise. There is simply no mistaking that point of view or the acumen, acerbity and aching insight that inform it. Three Picture Deal, Paging Audrey, Darkling Down -- the tracks of Circus Money team with the beautiful losers, hopeless romantics and reckless gamblers that roam at will through the realms of Walter Becker. Here, one more time, are the true life tales we never tire of hearing. “

GREATEST GUITAR RIFF OF ALL TIME
A recent internal poll of the students at Guitar-X (www.guitar-x.co.uk), the guitar students at London’s prestigious ‘Tech Music Schools’, has resulted in the following list outlining, in order of popularity, the top 25 guitar riffs of all time to coincide with their 25th anniversary celebrations.
The results of the survey are as follows:
Smoke On The Water – Deep Purple (1973)
Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana (1991)
Walk This Way – Aerosmith (1975)
Purple Haze – Jimi Hendrix (1967)
Sweet Child O Mine – Guns N Roses (1987)
Paradise City – Guns N Roses (1987)
Ace Of Spades – Motorhead (1980)
Enter Sandman – Metallica (1991)
Under The Bridge – Red Hot Chilli Peppers (1992)
Welcome To The Jungle – Guns N Roses (1987)
Run To The Hills – Iron Maiden (1982)
Walk – Pantera (1992)
Johnny Be Goode – Chuck Berry (1958)
Back In Black – AC/DC (1980)
Immigrant Song – Led Zeppelin (1970)
Wake Up – Rage Against The Machine (1992)
Highway to Hell – AC/DC (1979)
My Generation – The Who (1965)
7 Nation Army – The White Stripes (2003)
Born To Be Wild – Steppenwolf (1968)
Give It Away – Red Hot Chilli Peppers (1991)
Paranoid – Black Sabbath (1970)
Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) – Jimi Hendrix (1967)
Eye Of The Tiger – Survivor (1982)
Money For Nothing – Dire Straits (1984)
The big surprise is the fact that with only a few exceptions the riffs were all written more than 20 years ago. Pretty interesting considering many of the students who took part in the survey were not even born when the riffs were recorded. Classic rock has indeed won through here.
So why have the guitarists who are going to populate the industry for the next 40 years chosen these riffs? And what makes a guitar riff great in the first place, John Wheatcroft, the Head Of Instruments at Guitar-X gives his opinion:
Where have all the great riffs gone?
What makes a riff great and why do some go on to become classic?
Creating a classic riff isn't as easy as it seems. Your riff needs to be memorable, vaguely familiar, reasonably accessible (i.e. fairly simple to remember and easy to play!), able to withstand countless repetition without becoming tedious and most importantly, somehow original. Not an easy task. The one thing that ties all of our the classic riffs together is that once you've figured out how to play one on your instrument, you'll wonder why you thought it'd be so difficult to write one yourself!
Most of our 'classic' riffs are more than 20 years old, with many of them distinctly 'middle-aged', dating back to the late 60s or early 70s. Whilst it could be argued that we are no longer living in the iconic 'Age Of The Electric Guitar', a quick look around any record shop proves that musical quality lasts, with artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin shifting just as many albums today, if not more than they did in their heyday. It's possible that you have to wait until the 'dust settles' before we can truly consider a riff's eligibility for 'Classic' status. If we were to consider a similar question within either jazz or classical music, would we be truly surprised if most, if not all of the artists were not currently active, musically or otherwise?
Today, there are undoubtedly loads of fantastic artists that continue to feature the electric guitar as the prominent feature of their sound. Perhaps in these days of equality it's down to the absence of any real new 'Guitar Heroes'. Remember those heady days of Rock & Roll, where the audience was treated to the gladiatorial spectacle of the singer and the lead guitarist battling it out for centre-stage dominance and audience adulation night after night?

Quo’s fave Aussies’ solo return
Aussie rock act twentysevens so impressed Status Quo when they played together down under that the veteran British band personally invited them to support them on their UK Winter tour. Now twentysevens are back with their own headline UK dates – as true fans of the British scene they could not resist playing The Cavern - and a new album “Sex, Politics & Religion”. Later in the year the band will release a DVD documentary about their time on the road with Britain’s favourite band.
“Sex, Politics & Religion” contains includes 13 new originals, plus - after being inspired watching Quo 31 times on the 06 tour! - a very different version of “Pictures of Matchstick Men”. The album has been described as “full of hard-edged blues & groove flavours”, and will be available at the live shows and also at www.twentysevens.com from 16 June. The DVD about life with Quo is coming soon and is certain to be of huge interest to Quo fans, not least because most of them seem to be in the film!

twentysevens’ diverse and eclectic style is formed from a fusion of blues, funky jazz, and flourishes from a variety of stringed instruments and rock guitars. The band is made up of guitarist Steve Tyson, bassist John Barr, and drummer Dave Parnell. Guided by a host of influences but treading a path of their own, the band’s name alludes to rock icons like Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Jeff Buckley who all died at the age of 27.

Hendrix At Monterey On DVD
THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE LIVE AT MONTEREY
DVD, CD, LP RELEASE SET FOR OCTOBER 16
Forty years ago Jimi Hendrix returned to his native country and, in one fell swoop changed the musical landscape for all time. It was the galvanizing, US debut performance of The Jimi Hendrix Experience at The Monterey International Pop Festival that propelled Hendrix and his band mates, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, to the top ranks of international rock royalty. On October 16, for the first time ever, The Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey will be released by Experience Hendrix/Geffen/UMe on DVD. It’s a remarkable visual and aural document that reconfirms what the Monterey audience bore witness to on June 18, 1967: Hendrix’s unbridled talent and flair for showmanship are unparalleled in the annals of music.
The set of songs that the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed at Monterey was introduced by Brian Jones, the Rolling Stones’ guitarist whose presence at the festival amounted to a kind of benediction by an acknowledged rock god. He knew full well who he was introducing as Hendrix had moved to London fewer than nine months earlier and achieved icon status in the U.K. in very short order. His conquest of his native land, though, would be achieved almost instantaneously at Monterey.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey offers all existing film footage of that epochal performance presented in its original sequence. The original 16mm camera reversal footage shot by D.A. Pennebaker’s Monterey Pop film crew has been transferred to high-definition specs and is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The DVD soundtrack features new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie Kramer, the engineer so closely associated with the Jimi Hendrix and his legacy, from the original eight-track live recordings made at the concert by remote engineer Wally Heider.
Beyond the performance of the band’s set, The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey offers numerous bonus features. A Second Look, a unique interactive feature allows the viewer to switch between multiple, previously unseen camera angles to view several of the performances as never before. In addition, American Landing, a new documentary that includes previously unreleased interviews with Mitchell and Redding – and Jimi Hendrix, himself -- is included. There’s also Music, Love and Flowers, an inside look at the Monterey International Pop Festival with co-founder Lou Adler. Live performances of “Stone Free” and “Like A Rolling Stone, the two earliest known unreleased Jimi Hendrix Experience performances, shot February 25, 1967 at Chelmsford, England are also part of the package.
Voluminous liner notes by Mitch Mitchell and Hendrix scholar and Experience Hendrix’s catalog development director John McDermott, as well as numerous rare and previously unpublished photos of Hendrix, the band and memorabilia of the time are also part of the lavish package that is The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey.

The promo videos on the DVD have never been commercially released and have remained unseen since they were broadcast on a handful of occasions in the early '80s.
The booklet is annotated by Ian Gillan, along with respected critic Valerie Potter.

BONUS DVD: THE VIDEOS:
Sleeping On The Job / No Laughing In Heaven / Lucille / Nightmare / Restless / Living For The City / Long Gone
Ian Gillan is rock royalty, and has become an erudite elder statesman of the genre. He was the original Jesus Christ Superstar and – with Deep Purple – he co-wrote and sang Smoke on the Water (one of the most popular songs of all time) among dozens of other hits. He’s always made music for music’s sake, not to appease critics, the industry or anyone else; to quote the man… “It’s important to step off the highway sometimes and take the scenic route.” He has played to tens of millions of fans, and sold over one hundred million records. To this day he approaches writing, recording and touring with the zeal, passion and commitment of an eighteen year old. He is currently taking a break before resuming the Deep Purple world tour at the end of October.

Gamma Ray Signs New Deal With Steamhammer/SPV
Internationally acclaimed metal band, Gamma Ray, announce their signing to Steamhammer/SPV and will release their new album Land Of The Free Part II on 19th November.
After 11 album releases and numerous world tours, Gamma Ray are still ever-changing and dominating the world of German power metal. Their decision to sign to Steamhammer/SPV seemed like a logical step for the band, especially since Helloween, Kai Hansen’s former band, were already on the label.
Land Of The Free Part II is an ingenious follow up to Gamma Ray’s 1995 classic Land Of The Free. Singer Kai Hansen, states: “Majestic presented Gamma Ray’s dark side, while its predecessor, No World Order, was more of an eighties-inspired record. This time we wanted to turn our attention to a side of the band that has always been our greatest strength: positive power.”
Land Of The Free Part II has been produced by all band members with some outside support during recording. Hansen explains the enlistment of Tommy Newton (Helloween, UFO, etc.) and his Area 51 studio, where the new material was mixed - “We wanted to have a clear head in some areas to be able to concentrate on the important things,” Land Of The Free Part II is an achievement, with 12 high–powered tracks, Gamma Ray never fail to deliver.”

Gamma Ray will be touring in November on the Hellish Rock 2007/08 tour, alongside Helloween. Their one and only UK show will be on 8th January at the Forum in London. “The fans can look forward to a full Gamma Ray show, plus a nightly session together with Helloween, likely to feature a number of classics from Kai Hansen’s own Helloween era”. This is a rare opportunity to catch Gamma Ray live….

John Martyn Live 1978 DVD Release
John Martyn has enjoyed major success for the last forty years and in 2007
celebrated the fortieth anniversary of the release of his first album London
Conversation. Since then John has released many landmark albums including
One World which was released in late 1977. In March 1978 John appeared on
German television to promote the album. The live concert included songs from
the album including Big Muff, Couldn't Love You More, Small Hours and
Certain Surprise. These songs featured alongside John Martyn classics such
as May You Never, Glistening Glyndebourne and the perennial Solid Air.
The performance captured here really is one of the best John Martyn
performances of the seventies. John is extremely relaxed and on form
throughout and performs requests from the attentive audience even managing
to laugh and joke with the audience when he breaks a string just before
playing a stunning version of Solid Air
A major point of this DVD release is the inclusion of the song I'd Rather Be
The Devil which was performed and recorded but due to time constraints was
edited out of the programme This DVD therefore represents the first time
that the full performance has been released officially on DVD and as such
will be a valuable and highly desirable addition to any John Martyn fans
collection. The DVD will be sold through a dedicated micro site where a low
resolution sample video can be viewed along with further information.

Heavy metal legends Saxon release single
STARS OF HARVEY GOLDSMITH’S ‘GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER’ C4 DOCUMENTARY APRIL 10TH RELEASE ‘IF I WAS YOU’ SINGLE APRIL 16th & TOUR UK & IRELAND IN MAY
English hard rocking heavy metal legends Saxon, who star in Channel 4’s ‘Get Your Act Together’ programme (fronted by Harvey Goldsmith) on April 10th, have now confirmed the release their ANTI GUN CRIME single featured on the show, ‘If I Was You’, on SPV Records on April 16th. All proceeds from the single will be split equally between The Non Violence Foundation and the Gun Control Network – see www.nonviolenceuk.org.uk and www.gun-control-network.org for details.
‘If I Was You’ is taken from Saxon’s just released, highly acclaimed 18th studio album ‘The Inner Sanctum’, which went straight into the UK Rock album chart at number 4. Reviewing the LP in Kerrang!’s March 24th issue, Nick Ruskell enthused; “Sounding a good 20 years younger than their birth certificates say, there’s no messing here, just a load of solid heavy metal tunes played with the energy and conviction of a band right at the top of their game, and although they may be older, wiser and greyer than they used to be, Saxon are still way above par when it comes to delivering the metal.”
Saxon have also rescheduled their UK & Irish tour, which was postponed last month when singer Biff Byford contracted a throat infection and lost his voice. Dates are:-
14th May MANCHESTER Academy 2 (£16.00)
15th May LONDON – Astoria (£16.00)

The Zombies announce May 2007 UK tour dates
Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent of THE ZOMBIES – announce May 2007 UK tour dates
‘Time of the Season’ c/w ‘This Will Be Our Year’ single – from the Magners Cider ads - released May 14th
Currently all over UK TV and radio with their legendary song ‘Time of the Season’ featured in the advertising campaign for Magners Cider, Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent of The Zombies set out on UK dates, fresh from yet another successful tour of Canada and the USA .
‘Time Of The Season’ also reached 5 million plays in the US at the end of last
year - one of only a handful of U.K. records to make that milestone. The song is also featured on a major ad in Japan for Nissan and both ‘She’s Not There’ and ‘Time of the Season’ were also included in a recent episode of the smash US hit show, ‘American Idol’.
In a recent Top 100 British Albums chart featured by music bible NME, The Zombies’ 1968 album, ‘Odessey & Oracle’ (from which ‘Time of the Season’ is taken) was placed at Number 32, with the accompanying comment: “…British psychedelia with a kaleidoscopic vision that rival even The Beatles”.
Perhaps entirely appropriate then, that The Zombies’ ROD ARGENT completed an American tour as a featured musician with former Beatles’ RINGO STARR & HIS ALL STAR BAND last Summer.
In March 2008 all the original members of THE ZOMBIES (Colin Blunstone – vocals, Rod Argent – keyboards/vocals, Chris White – bass; Hugh Grundy – drums) reunite to perform two special live concerts at The Shepherds Bush Empire in London, playing the entire ‘Odessey & Oracle’ album from start to finish, as well as Colin Blunstone’s magical solo material and Rod Argent’s superb Argent hits in the other half of the show. These concerts mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the album in 1968 and remarkably this will be the first time the band has played these songs live on stage in the original line up. Paul Aitkinson who sadly has passed away will be replaced on guitar by Keith Airey (who plays regularly with the touring band). Tickets will go on sale early this summer. (check www.colinblunstone.co.uk for details as soon as they are known)

Ian Gillan: Highway Star: A Journey in Rock
UK release date : April 2nd 2007
UNIVERSAL MUSIC DVD TELLS THE FULL OFFICIAL
STORY OF THE VOICE BEHIND DEEP PURPLE…
IT TOOK just one Elvis movie to convince the teenage Gillan that he should give the whole ‘performing’ thing a go, and – with the exception of a short break after leaving Deep Purple for the first time – he simply hasn’t stopped since. Whatever the circumstances, whatever the continent, Ian has spent the past 40 years carving out his place as one of rock’s most influential & iconic singers.
And it’s this four-decade-long stint in the spotlight that is gloriously celebrated on ‘Highway Star…’ – a lavish two-disc DVD set officially documenting The Gillan Story from Ian’s early years as a singer on the West London scene right through to his rise to the top as The Definitive Voice Of Deep Purple – a role, of course, he continues to occupy to this day.
Released through Universal on April 2nd and containing over six hours of material, including exclusive in-depth interviews, specially filmed live footage plus a host of bonus features, ‘Highway Star…’ is a detailed, refreshingly candid look at the career of a man who has always been at his happiest (and most successful) when fronting a loud rock‘n’roll band.
Which isn’t to say he hasn’t made his mark in other areas; he is, after all, the first interpretive voice of Jesus on the original ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ OST, and he’s been known to share a stage with Pavarotti no less, but it’s in the world of hard rock (either with Purple, Black Sabbath or leading the Gillan Band into the charts) that Ian’s natural charisma, intelligent lyrics and groundbreaking vocal gymnastics have consistently set him apart – loved by the fans and respected by his peers.
Certainly, it’s no great surprise to see the likes of vocalist Ronnie James Dio, Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi or former Purple keyboard player Jon Lord speaking warmly to camera about Ian The Musician and Ian The Man, but it’s a measure of the Gillan reputation that these interviews can be juxtaposed with pieces from Sir Tim Rice, the late George Best (a Purple fan through & through) plus the aforementioned Pavarotti himself. There are also contributions from the Gillan family, not to mention the current members of Purple, with bassist Roger Glover providing some of the sleeve notes for the set, in addition to Ian’s entertaining foreword.
Gillan says: “The producers have done a brilliant job.”

Paice,Ashton & Lord DVD Release
Paice Ashton Lord
Live
T2Media T2DVD 0109
5 022911 109318
Dist in UK by Pinnacle / ROW by AFM Soulfood
Format : single DVD + 4 page booklet.
Limited edition with reproduction tour programme available from www.deep-purple.net
Release date : April 2007
T2 are pleased to announce the release of the first ever Paice Ashton Lord DVD, with almost two hours of footage never issued officially before, which has remained unseen since 1977.
It was back in 1970 through their manager that Ashton Gardener & Dyke’s keyboard player (and vocalist) Tony Ashton and Deep Purple’s keyboard player Jon Lord came to meet, subsequently working and writing together on a number of projects over the next few years.
Following Deep Purple’s demise in March 1976, drummer Ian Paice, with Ashton and Lord, decided to form a band together and Paice Ashton Lord (PAL) emerged amidst much fanfare in August 1976.
Together they held anonymous auditions to find other players player through press adverts; “British Band Requires British Bass Player and Lead Guitarist for formation of new rock band by three established musicians”
Jon described the experience afterwards: “If you want to know what hell on earth is like... it’s not that the musicians were bad or anything, it’s just that there were so many of them”.
Paul Martinez, from Stretch, got the bass players job, Bernie Marsden, then with Babe Ruth (and formerly with UFO), came in on guitar. By September 1976 they were in Munich recording along with a brass quartet which helped give the band their unique sound. The line-up was completed by two girl singers.
As Jon explained, “Tony said when we started, No Average White Band!, but you can’t get laid back when you’re playing with Ian Paice”. Paice also feels they’d cut a good album, “PAL was trying to do something ahead of its time, the sort of thing Level 42 became, a cross between jazz and rock”.
Unusually the group made their debut on the TV show Sight & Sound In Concert in March 1977, before opening their British tour a week later.
As it turned out this was to be their only tour. Album sales were slow, with former Deep Purple fans finding the switch in styles difficult to get to grips with, and the group decided to record the follow-up before going back on the road. Lord and Paice had sunk around half a million of their own money into the group and it became clear they'd been overambitious. Bernie Marsden was offered a gig with Whitesnake and took it. By early 1978 PAL (despite attempts to try and persude David Coverdale to join the project) were no more.
The group were undoubtably ahead of their time but Ian Paice looks back on the band without regrets. “PAL was a brave experiment! It was built around Tony Ashton and his ability to make an audience love him but you put him on a big stage and it’s not in him to do it and he doesn’t enjoy it. It was an experiment that cost Jon and I a fortune but I’m glad we did it”.
It is the band’s one and only ten track TV set which is presented here, unseen in thirty years, and including a number never transmitted at the time. Equally rare is a lengthy documentary which the group made to record their auditions, album sessions and first live shows - a fascinating glimpse at the inner-workings of a rcok group, as well as being shot through with moments of real humour from both Lord and Ashton. Both films are released for the first time on this DVD, along with detailed menus, biographies, plus galleries of rare memorabilia and photographs and a four page booklet.
There will be a limited edition through the Deep Purple Appreciation Society with a reproduction of the ultra rare tour programme along with souvenir t-shirts.

This was the defining moment when he fell in love with the guitar and decided a life in music was for him! He worked with Julian Lennon and has performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists including Andy Williams, Paul Rogers, Kenny Jones, Phil 'Animal' Taylor (Motorhead), Ray Cooper(Elton John), Chris Rea, Jack Hues(Wang Chung), Pete Sinfield(King Crimson, ELP, Celine Dion) and Ralph McTell. Former Monkee Peter Tork ultra-rare UK dates
The Monkees’ PETER TORK and SHOE SUEDE BLUES
Ultra-rare UK dates for former MONKEES musician
Support: SAM HIRD
“This lad will go all the way” (Gary Fletcher, The Blues Band)
Full tour information below.
Images from www.tenacitymusicpr.co.uk
Peter Tork: guitar, keys, banjo, lead and backing vocals
Richard Mikuls: guitar, lead and backing vocals
Arnold Jacks: bass, vocals
Jeff Olson: drums
40 years ago on December 3rd, 1966 THE MONKEES played their first ‘live’ concert in Honolulu, Hawaii (MOJO, Dec. 2006)
At that time, the bands’ debut album was at Number One in the US charts – where it stayed for 13 weeks – and their first single, ‘Last Train To Clarkesville’ had already been at Number one in the singles charts, soon to be followed to that hallowed position with the Neil Diamond-penned ‘I’m A Believer’.
This phenomenon was repeated all over the world, including the UK where The Monkees’ ‘live’ shows achieved legendary status, with album and singles sales going through the roof. Their music and images helped define a decade.
Peter Tork is a former member of that world-famous 1960s pop group. And will be visiting the UK in February 2007 for a series of ultra-rare shows with his band SHOE SUEDE BLUES, re-visiting those other, timeless Monkees hits ‘live’ - such as ‘Daydream Believer’, ‘Monkees Theme’, ‘Pleasant Valley Sunday’, ‘Steppin' Stone’ ,
but with a special twist. Also available for the tour will be a new Blues Suede Shoes album – ‘Cambria Hotel’.
One of the two acknowledged musicians in The Monkees (along with Mike Nesmith) Peter plays a myriad of instruments, including the 5-string banjo, piano/keyboard, drums, guitar, french horn and bass. He performs on guitar, keys, banjo and lead vocals with Shoe Suede Blues.
On bass is Arnold Jacks, is a much sought after and well respected side man who can hold down a bass line with the best in the business. He is simply one of the most phenomenal bass players around.
Guitarist/vocalist Richard Mikuls has shared the stage and the recording studio with such legendary artists as Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, BB King, Ike and Tina Turner, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Pointer Sisters. Richard has also produced music for TV shows and movies, as well as TV commercials for Coors Beer, Isuzu, and Honda - Acura. Richard also adds some lead and back up vocals into the mix for SSB.

Tony Ashton and friends live at Abbey Road
T2Media T2CD0107
The Tony Ashton Testimonial show held at Abbey Road in June 2000, in the presence of the man himself, is at last being released.
Guests of special interest to Deep Purple fans include Jon Lord and Ian Paice, with Pete York, Eddie Hardin, Neil Murray, Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody also being names familiar through their connections with the band.
Other guests from the rock field include Who bassist John Entwistle and drummer Zak Starkey, as well as Wishbone Ash guitarist Laurie Wisefield. From the sixties, names such as Zoot Money, Chris Barber, Howie Casey and Geoff Whitehorn will also be familiar.
The idea for this special and unique evening came from Jon Lord and Pete York, and it was held at Abbey Road Studio One in London to show support for their friend Tony Ashton, a rock musicians whose credits include The Remo Four, Ashton, Gardner & Dyke, Family, Paice Ashton Lord and many more.
The CD edition (which has a special booklet with pictures from the gig) includes a great three track set from Tony Ashton and friends, a six track set from the old Whitesnake wrecking crew (minus David Coverdale), including a stripped down version of “Here I Go Again” done by just Bernie and Jon, and a track from Who man John Entwistle.
Perhaps the most unique feature of the CD is the first and only Paice Ashton Lord reunion, right down to the brass and female backing singers (with Neil Murray standing in for Paul Martinez). Originally formed from the ashes of Deep Purple in 1976, the band only recorded one album and played just a handful of shows before splitting when Lord and Paice joined Whitesnake. This is the first time the players had been back together since.
They do two album tracks and then close with a rousing version of “Resurrection Shuffle” (with Jon and Tony swapping keyboard riffs across the stage).
Sadly the event turned out to be Tony's last night of rock and roll - he died just a year later. This release has been mixed from recordings made by the legendary Geoff Emerick (who engineered The Beatles) and prepared with the full co-operation of his wife Sandra - a great souvenir of what was a very enjoyable and moving occasion.
A special DVD is also being prepared for release later in the year.

Club Bang Bang November 2006 events
SPACE RITUAL
+ Support from The Green Ray and The Global Jukebox (DJ)
Friday 3 November
100 Club, 100 Oxford St London W1
The only London date from Space Ritual, a psychedelic a band comprising of former vintage Hawkwind members, including Nik Turner (Vocals/Saxophone), Thomas Crimble (Guitar), Terry and son Sam Ollis (Drums/DJ Strike Lightning) and Mick Slattery (Guitar). Many consider them to be the true version of the band that now only features single original member, Dave Brock.
Baffling and titillating every audience they perform to, the bands repertoire consists of early Hawkwind classics such as the rarely heard 'Born to Go'; the tongue-in-cheek or should that be reefer in cheek splendidity of Inner City Unit's 'Watching the Grass Grow' and the Space Ritual's own ditty called 'Sonic Savages' - most of whom were written by Hawkwind founder, Nik Turner.
Let yourself go and become engrossed with the madly dressed, wig wearing and exotic dancing of Ms Angel, who may at one point dance completely naked and swirl around to the thunderous repetitively brilliant music that these guys are legendary for. She's the updated equivalent of 70's beauty Miss. Stacia who regularly paraded the stage with Hawkwind.
This promises to be a spectacular night provided by one of the most original bands out of the UK.
For this show Space Ritual are joined by The Green Ray - Originally known as the Archers, they feature Ken Whalley and Richard Treece, two veterans of the Welsh psych/rock scene (ex-Help Yourself, Man, etc.)...

Created by award winning duo director Dick Carruthers (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The White Stripes) and producer Jim Parsons (MTV Headbangers’ Ball, New Kings Of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Re:covered) ‘Heavy Metal – Louder Than Life’ is a long overdue film that unravels the music, the myths and the mayhem.
Since its arrival in the 70’s, metal has stood alone as a musical creative force, untouchable for emotion, power and longevity. From pioneering bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, through the 80’s with Iron Maiden and into the 90’s with the likes of Metallica and Pantera, there has never been a document which considers the continuing story of Metal, until now…
‘Heavy Metal - Louder Than Life’ is a film that looks at what made Metal, how it grew and how it has transcended fashion, misunderstanding, ridicule and ignorance. It is dedicated to the memory of Darrell ‘Dimebag’ Abbott who was murdered on stage on 8th December 2004, and features testimonials on his contribution and influence on the Metal genre. With a total run time at over 4 hours in length including special features, this 2 disc DVD set will become a benchmark for the hard-core Metal fan: reinforcing and reaffirming allegiance.
With over 2 hours of extras including:
• Dee On Metal… The World of Metal explained and exploded by Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider.
• Mystery Headbanger… Myths and truths of a true Metal head exposed.
• Albums Testimonials… A guide to the greatest and most essential albums of all time.

• Metal Tales… Stories from the bands, journalists and producers.
• The Metal Timeline.
• Subtitles & Commentary… Director Dick Carruthers & Producer Jim Parsons add a personal insight into the making of Louder Than Life.
The wait is over. ‘Heavy Metal - Louder Than Life’ has arrived – the ultimate story of Heavy Metal for fans of all ages.

Ian Gillan Solo Release GILLANS INN
Ian Gillan, having made his mark with the legendary Deep Purple, has taken time out to celebrate his fortieth year as a touring musician with some very special guests and the result is “GILLAN’S INN”, a brilliant album of remakes spanning his entire career, to be released on 17th April by immergent/5.1 Entertainment.
There is no doubt that Ian Gillan is one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time, if not the greatest. Pavarotti said Gillan is a genius, and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour said that as long as Gillan is breathing, then rock and roll is still alive.
From the first glance, any listener will know they’re in for a party inside “Gillan’s Inn”. In fact, if the title symbolizes anything it’s the roving celebration of life and music that Gillan’s professional life his been. “Gillan’s Inn” is simply wherever he may be.
Inside lies a devastatingly enjoyable DualDisc featuring 13 stunning remakes of classic tracks spanning Gillan’s entire career - plus one new song - with a simply amazing group of special guests.
On the ‘flip-side’ (haven’t heard that in a while) you get an extremely rich DVD featuring a full 5.1 surround-sound audio mix of the entire record, with some alternate solos, as well as ‘making of’ video from the sessions, hundreds of photos, Gillan commentary on the various songs on the record, and a “choose your own solo” section for Smoke on the Water, featuring different guitar players who contributed to the record.
Produced, engineered and mixed by the brilliant Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Tom Jones, The Police, Nazareth, Cat Stevens, among many others), this record was recorded in Surrey, UK; Buffalo, New York; Toronto, Canada; San Francisco and Los Angeles, California; Austin Texas, and points elsewhere.
Step in to Gillan’s Inn and you’ll be there for quite a while, with an ear-to-ear grin, and you’ll have it cranked up so loud you won’t hear the neighbours banging on the walls. Gillan’s Inn must be heard!
On the menu at “Gillan’s Inn”:
1. Unchain Your Brain
2. Bluesy Blue Sea
3. Day Late N A Dollar Short
4. Hang Me Out To Dry
5. Men Of War
6. When a Blind Man Cries
7. Sugar Plum Demon’s Eye (DVD side only)
8. Trashed Can I Get A Woman (ROM/Launcher only)
9. No Worries
10. Smoke on the Water
11. No Laughing In Heaven
12. Speed King
13. Loving On Borrowed Time
14. I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight
Gillan’s Inn features contributions from Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi on Trashed (from Born Again), with Deep Purple’s Roger Glover and Ian Paice (that’s right, it’s kind of a Deep Sabbath track now); Joe Satriani; Jeff Healey with Jon Lord on When a Blind Man Cries, Demon’s Eye, and Smoke on the Water; Cliff Bennett; ex-Scorpion Uli Jon Roth; Joe Elliott from Def Leppard; Don Airey; Mickey Lee Soule; Steve Morse, and many others.
Ian Gillan is rock royalty, and has become an erudite elder statesman of the genre. He was the original Jesus Christ Superstar and – with Deep Purple – he co-wrote and sang Smoke on the Water (one of the most popular songs of all time) among dozens of other hits. He’s always made music for music’s sake, not to appease critics, the industry or anyone else; to quote the man…’It’s important to step off the highway sometimes and take the scenic route.’ Music is not fashion for Gillan; it’s his life. He has played to tens of millions of fans, and sold over one hundred million records, and to this day approaches writing, recording and touring with the zeal, passion and commitment of an eighteen year old.
Gillan IS the voice of rock and roll, and has inspired generations of singers, and probably indirectly caused hundreds of thousands of speeding tickets. He’s an author, a songwriter and a philosopher with a wicked sense of humour and a bit of the devil in his eye. And most of all, he’s got a seasoned impassioned voice and lyrical sense still better than any in rock and roll after forty years of giving it his all.
Ian is currently on the ‘Rapture of the Deep World Tour’ with Deep Purple
He will stopping off en-route at Gillan’s Inn for some refreshment and the occasional solo performance.

Sparks New Album Hello Young Lovers
The New Album
UK Release: February 6, 2006
'Perfume'
The New Single
UK Release: February 13, 2006
2006 UK TOUR DATES
On their incomparable new album, Sparks protest predictability,
obliterate the ordinary and demand utmost respect.
With moments of sheer beauty, frenzy, dissonance, harmony, pure genius…it rocks!!
It is cinematic and bold, lyrically liberal.
It may not win a Grammy…rather an Academy Award.
It's music for smart people.
Never, NEVER, has there been an auditory assault of such magnitude presented in the realm of pop music.
When Sparks' last album Lil' Beethoven hit the streets critics lauded and applauded, fans smiled smugly with overdue vindication and fellow musicians wept when faced with the reality that, once again, Sparks had raised the bar by which all other albums should be judged.
Now the Angeleno brothers Ron and Russell Mael present Hello Young Lovers, their 20th album. To achieve such enormity and expansiveness Ron and Russell Mael worked in a limitless vacuum for the best part of 18 months.
The only inspiration taken from any current music was the provocation to go as far as possible in the opposite direction. When writing and recording Lil Beethoven Sparks broke the rules, but in creating Hello Young Lovers the rule book has been thrown away.
The resulting album is an extraordinary masterpiece
Ron and Russell Mael are joined on stage by Tammy Glover (Drums), Dean [Faith No More] Menta (Guitar), Josh Klinghoffer (guitars) and Steve [Red Kross] McDonald (Bass).

Extra date for the Black Crowes
Due to overwhelming demand and both shows selling out almost immediately, The Black Crowes have ADDED A THIRD DATE ON MONDAY 20th March to the two already sold out shows at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on 18th and 19th March 2006. After months of speculation, THE BLACK CROWES will make a triumphant return to the UK concert stage with 2 exclusive shows at the London Shepherds Bush Empire on 18th and 19th March 2006.
2005 marked the year in which The Black Crowes reunited and re-connected with their loyal fans, performing the best shows of their career. The band--who’ve have been alternately described as 'The Most Rock ‘N Roll Rock ‘N Roll Band In The World' and 'a thoroughbred American rock ‘n’ freakin’ roll band'-- are billing the show as “An Evening With The Black Crowes” and will mark a long-awaited return to these shores by of one of America’s greatest and most respected artists.
'An Evening With…' will feature two sets, each lasting one and a half hours. In true Black Crowes style, the set will change each night, but is anticipated to include classics such as; 'Remedy,' 'Wiser Time,' 'Hard to Handle,' 'Jealous Again,' 'Thorn in My Pride,' and 'She Talks To Angels,' as well as many songs from their catalogue, previously unreleased Black Crowes material and an eclectic selection of influential covers.
Longtime group manager Pete Angelus states that these are the only confirmed shows and no future touring plans or dates have been confirmed. 'At this point in time, we have not discussed any future international touring plans. It has always been our intention to gauge the future of the band, not by the memories and successes of the past, but rather by the group’s collective feelings of the present,' says Angelus.
The Black Crowes are Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitars), Marc Ford (guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Steve Gorman (drums) and Sven Pipien (bass).
The band announced their hiatus in 2001. However, their fans started to get excited last year when their long-dormant website (www.blackcrowes.com) suddenly became animated, showing two 'Crowe' heads facing each other with audio clips of the band’s music. The net began buzzing and in January The Black Crowes played 7 shows in New York City – which instantly sold out 23,000 tickets.
THE BLACK CROWES’ return in 2005 has been highlighted so far by not only the seven night sold-out New York City engagement, but with a massive American summer shed tour with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, five sold-out nights at San Francisco’s historic Fillmore (filmed for an upcoming DVD), a charity concert for the Hurricane Katrina victims in Memphis, performances at three of the most prestigious festivals in America (New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits Festival) and will conclude with their first-ever headlining performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on New Year’s Eve.
The Black Crowes’ six studio albums have racked up sales of over 19 million worldwide and the band performed over 2,000 shows between 1990 and 2001. Their gigs became legendary for set lists which changed every night and signature incendiary musical explorations… An 'Evening With' promises to deliver the same energy and excitement.
Tickets go on sale on Monday 11th November at 9.00am and Ticket prices are £30 each.
The box office number is 0870 771 2000. Credit Card hotline - 0870 400 0688 or buy online at getLIVE.co.uk.

Rock Legends Lynyrd Skynyrd 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees
BAND HONORED IN THE 21ST ANNUAL INDUCTION CEREMONY
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced today that Lynyrd Skynyrd will be among its 2006 inductees.
Regarding the nomination, Gary Rossington said, 'I’m thankful to everyone involved. It’s a great thing and a great day for all of us. I’m glad those we’ve lost -- Ronnie, Allen, Leon, Steve and Cassie -- will get the honor and recognition they deserve. I’m also thankful to Rickey Medlocke and Larry Junstrom, who were with us in the beginning and Rickey’s even in the band with us now. Those two also deserve a piece of this honor. We’re just all really thankful for this.'
Billy Powell commented, 'Obviously this proves that the music is here to stay and I feel I made a contribution to the industry. It certainly completes a lifetime accomplishment for me. I’m more excited to receive this honor especially on behalf of our brothers who can’t be here, but are watching from above.'
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction will happen March 13 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. The ceremonies will be taped, edited and broadcast on VH1.
Lynyrd Skynyrd began their career in 1973 with the release of their cleverly titled 'pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd.' With more than 25 million albums sold to date, the band has become an American staple and a permanent fixture in rock n’ roll history. In 2003 the band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the release of the studio album, 'Vicious Cycle,' which was augmented by a successful tour and the release of the DVD 'Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyve: The Vicious Cycle Tour.' One of the hardest working groups in music today, Lynyrd Skynyrd performs hundreds of shows each year.

Eurythmics Art and Design Exhibition and Opening Night
To coincide with the release of Eurythmics forthcoming greatest hits 'Ultimate Collection' on 7th November 2005, their 8 studio albums are being reissued on 14th November 2005, and the release of their collector's 'Boxed' set, comes an exhibition that celebrates the images and personae created for each of their 8 studio album projects. The Ultimate Collection album also features the groups' first new material for 5 years.
The exhibition will be held at the Air Gallery, (32 Dover Street, London, W1S 4NE) and was put together with the help of graphic designer Laurence Stevens of LSD Studio who has worked with the duo throughout their career.
For the first time, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart are to exhibit some of their most significant and celebrated images alongside rare unpublished material in an Art and Design Exhibition. The invite-only preview event takes place in London on 31st October 2005. The Exhibition is open to the general public from Tuesday 1st November through to Saturday 5th November.
The exhibition will showcase images taken by some of the world's leading photographers including Richard Avedon, Jean Baptiste-Mondino, Peter Ashworth, Alistair Thaine, Lewis Ziolek and Anoushka Fisz amongst others.
On Monday October 31st, 2005, Eurythmics appeared at the Private View for the Eurythmics Ultimate Collection Photographic Exhibition. For the first 30 minutes Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart posed as sculptures with their eyes shut. As people gathered in the gallery to view the photos, when they got to the end of the gallery they could view Annie and Dave as pieces of art in their own right. It was a delightful sight to behold, and many guests took photos of the pair sitting in front of TV monitors that transmitted archive footage of Eurythmics from over the past 30 years.
The Private View launch party was a brilliant success. We spoke with Laurence Stevens the original graphics designer for all the Eurythmics albums and co-organiser of the photographic exhibition. We also got a chance to see a finished copy of BOXED, the 8-CD box set of all the reissue albums. The box is gorgeous. There's writing on all four sides of the box. Amazing! It's a work of art, and not just your ordinary box. Laurence has designed a stunning box to house the eight studio albums.
Also spotted at the Private View was Dennis Morris, the famous photographer for the Sex Pistols and Bob Marley, Mark Owen from Take That and Darren Hayes from Savage Garden, and Eurythmics webmaster, Tony Wong (the latter flew all the way from Australia for the event).

The Police: Synchronicity Tour
Includes multi-angle features, rare interview, new live tracks, remixed exclusively for DVD in 5.1 Surround Sound
Internationally Released September 12, 2005
Universal Music are pleased to announce the Monday September 12th 2005 DVD premiere international release of 'The Police - Synchronicity Concert' - the stunning live-in-concert live extravaganza filmed during their Atlanta leg of their Synchronicity World Tour in November 1983. Exclusive to this DVD are the 4 previously unseen multi angle tracks – Synchronicity II, Roxanne, Invisible Sun and Don’t Stand So Close To Me. As an additional treat, the DVD also includes the original concert trailer and a rare interview with the band from their final concert on their Synchronicity World Tour (and their last ever Police concert) in Melbourne, Australia 1984.
Twenty-two years later, this spectacular concert has never sounded better. For the very first time on DVD, the audio has been remixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, and includes three different audio soundtracks including dts, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, and 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo.
Originally directed and edited by Godley & Crème, this energetic and power-packed live concert brilliantly captures the Police at the height of their success, when Synchronicity ruled airwaves and the trio were one of the biggest bands in the world.

Simple Minds: Black and White 050505
One of Scotland's most successful bands, they defined a generation, have scored over twenty Top 20 hits in a career spanning nearly three decades. They have sold over thirty million records, had five number one albums, a no. 1 single in America - plus three American top ten singles and been Voted Q magazine's world's best live act. Simple Minds embarked internationally on countless sold out stadium tours including headlining three times at Wembley stadium. They have influenced bands as diverse as current favourites Bloc Party, Muse, as well as Moby, Manic Street Preachers and Stereophonics along the way. Most recently Yellow Card paid homage to their biggest hit, 'Don't You (Forget about me)' at the MTV Movie Awards.
Now after a three year hiatus Simple Minds are back with their best CD since 'New Gold Dream,' called 'Black and White 050505.' Released on 12th September by Sanctuary Records, 'Black and White' recalls the sweeping, vast sound that characterised their biggest hit albums, 'Sparkle in the Rain,' 'Once upon a Time' and 'Street Fighting Years.' 'Black and White' recorded in Italy, Holland and then mixed in Los Angeles by the legendary Bob Clearmountain is a real return to form for this four piece band and should see the emergence of a whole new generation of fans as well as satisfying their current ones.
This is a CD that captivates on its first listen and then just gets better. What with the renewed popularity of Duran Duran, New Order and Depeche Mode and the propensity for pop acts to sample 80's sounds, there is little doubt that Simple Minds time has truly come again.
The CD's opening track, 'Stay Visible' has all the depth, melody and warmth of a theme tune for the next Bond movie. Lingering in the mind long after the last chord has played, it evokes images of an expensive open top car zooming along an empty mountain road or an endless stretch of Arizona desert.
Visit Sanctuary Records for the rest of the story.
